The popular Tortuguero National Park is located on the northern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. It was created to protect endangered nesting sea turtles. If you are lucky, you may run the chance of seeing newly-hatched turtles racing to the sea. Tortuguero National Park has now become a destiation of choice due to its wildlife and large variety of biological diversity. The park is also offers the opportunity to take on some incredible kayaking and canoeing trips into the vast network of canals, rivers, lagoons, beaches and mangrove forests.

How to get there:

The most common way to reach Tortuguero National Park is to take a private bus. The bus ride from San José is about three hours. It will drop you off near the docks where you will then take a longboat to reach the Park.
