One of Belize's most popular trails

Wonderful waterfalls

Tiger Fern is an iconic trail situated in the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. The trail is passing through the lush-green jungle, leading up to a wonderful set of waterfalls. The falls create natural ponds which makes for the perfect swim. The 7 km trail also offers some scenic views of the Basin and Victoria Peak. The whole hike takes approximately 2.5 hours, round trip. The wildlife sanctuary is also considered a reserve for the native jaguar, which are super rare to see because they are nocturnal creatures.

How to get there:

The best way to reach the Tiger Fern trail is to take the bus from Dangriga or Belize to the Maya Center village. From there it is a 5 miles walk to the reserve headquarters. If you are in Hopkins, there are some reliable taxi service that could take you to Cockscomb. You can also hire a tour operator or rent a car and drive there yourself.
