How to get there:

Hop on a budget-friendly bus from Colombo, offering a scenic journey to Polonnaruwa. The approximately 5-hour ride provides an authentic Sri Lankan travel experience. The closest other popular cities are Sigiriya or Kandy. There are daily buses going to Polonnaruwa.
