Breathtaking views over Lake Wānaka and surrounding peaks

An unforgettable hike

The iconic Roy's Peak is a mountain standing between Wanaka and Glendhu Bay. The view is gorgeous all the way to the summit and through the spectacular ridgeline. The entire hike is definitely worth it. The 15 kilometers trail starts at the Roys Peak Track parkiling lot and onto Mount Aspiring Road near Wanaka.

How to get there:

The easiest way to reach the beginning of the trail is to drive there yourself. The closest town to Roys Peak is Wanaka but you can also easily get there from Queenstown. The hike starts at Roy’s Peak parking lot.

  1. A hike that will take your breath away!! You must do it for the sunrise – it was such a magical moment. The hike itself isn’t that hard, but you gotta keep going until the end if you want to have the best view!

FYI: In April, we began the hike at 3:30, and were able to catch the sunrise at its best time around 5:30.
