Playa del Carmen was originally a small fishing town, but today it is the icon of the white sand beaches and turquoise waters. This coastal resort town is known for its good weather, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs. Playa del Carmen features a wide array of tourist activities, such as scuba-diving, snorkeling, golfing, visiting the mayan archaeological sites and much more. Not only is Playa Del Carmen full of all-inclusive resorts, it also has some beautiful hostels that are near the beach.
The closest airport is Cancún International Airport (CUN), which is about 45 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. From there, you can take a bus, a shuttle, rent a car or take a taxi.
