The colorful city

A must-see attraction in Puerto Rico

The iconic old city of San Juan has over 500 years of rich history. It features colourful buildings and stunning European-influenced architecture. It is the oldest settlement within Puerto Rico and serves as a historic colonial section of the city of San Juan. You will find the El Morro and Castillo de San Cristobal fortresses, which are the most visited attractions on the island. These historical forts are definitely worth a visit. Old San Juan is generally a safe place to walk around, but you will notice a large police presence. You can also see the famous neighborhood of "La Perla", which is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the world. La Perla is situated on the northern side of the city of old San Juan. We do not recommend walking in this part of the city. You can admire the colorful houses from afar.

How to get there:

The old city of San Juan is easily acessible by bus or by car. It is preferable to visit the city by foot because of the narrow streets, traffic and parking.
