An impressive force of nature

Maui's biggest surfing break

Also known as "Peahi", Jaws is the wave hub ob Northern Maui. The size of the waves at Jaws can exceed 60 feet (18 m) from December to March. These waves attract big wave surfers such as Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama. There is a wonderful lookout on the edge of the cliff right where you can observe them. Only a few lucky and well-timed tourists get to watch big wave episodes at Jaws, seeing as it only happens a few times a year when conditions are favorable.
