The capital of the Peruvian Amazon

Iquitos is the jungle metropolis of the northern Amazon. It is known for its scenic amazon boat rides, great wildlife viewing, its massive open-air street market and rustic stilt houses lining the Itaya River. You will find some iconic outdoors opportunities like: visit a Butterfly Farm and a huge open-air market, boat cruising in the amazon, hiking and more.

How to get there:

The city cannot be reached by road. The only way to get to Iquitos is by planeor boat. From Lima, it is a 1h30 flight, from Tarapoto 50 minutes, and from Pucallpa 1 hour. Flights are from $55 USD to $200 USD. Iquitos can also be reached by boat from any navigable port on the Amazon River.
