UNESCO World Heritage Site

The 714 566 hectare biosphere reserve of El Pinacate encompasses two distinct parts: the dormant volcanic Pinacate Shield, made of black and red lava flows, desert pavements from east to west, as well as the Gran Altar Desert. It has ever changing and varied sand dunes that can reach a height of 200 meters.

Located in the Sonoran Desert in Northwest Mexico, east of Gulf of California.

How to get there:

Located about 40 minutes from the city of Puerto Peñasco and the Sea of Cortez. You can get there by car, however, 4-wheel vehicles are is not needed.
