Beautiful but deadly

A thrilling adventure

Chute & Ladders is a set of crystal clear tide pools flanked by rich, red rocks on one side and deep, turquoise water on the other. It is rather risky, we recommend you trust your gut and stick to your limits. Do not go to the tide pool when the ocean is the waves are strong because they can pull you offshore. The cliff face to climb down is about 40 feet high, but there are some ropes to help you.

You can shake the sand from your shoes, but not from your soul.

Located next to milepost 37 of the Honoapiilani Highway on the west coast of Maui

How to get there:

MAUI – It is hard to locate the trail to Chute & Ladders seeing as there are no signs indicating its location. It sits approximately 4 miles past mile marker 37 east of Honokohau Bay. The only way to get there is by car, and you can park it on the side of the road.

  1. Certainly one of my highlight on Maui, a small remote natural swimming pool. To get there you have to do a little climbing and the tides are sometimes dangerous in big swells. be careful
