One of the most active volcanoes

A must-do excurtion in Guatemala

Pacaya is an impressive active volcano which has frequent spectacular lava flows. It takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to hike up the steep 5 km trail to the top of Pacaya Volcano. Once you reach the summit, you won't forget the breathtaking views of the volcanic landscape. You can hike the volcanic crater on your own or with a local guide which you can book at the entrance of the park.

Located 30 kilometers southwest of Guatemala City and close to Antigua

How to get there:

Pacaya Volcano is just an hour and a half drive from Guatemala City and Antigua. It is easilly accessible by car or by shuttle. There are various tour companies in Antigua and Guatemala City that organize half-day trips to the Volcano.
