One of the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua

Iconic views

Telica Volcano is a stratovolcano situated in the Nicaraguan volcanic front, which offers some of the best sunsets and sunrises in the country. Hike up during the afternoon to catch the sunset or at the night to catch the sunrise. Most hikes start their journey at the small town of San Jacinto. You have to take a taxi or walk towards the direction of the mountain, right behind the hot springs — which are also pretty cool to visit. The hike from the foot of the crater takes approximately 1.5 hours.

Stuff your eyes with wonder, live as if you'd drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories. – Ray bradbury

Located in Telica municipality, in the León department of Nicaragua

How to get there:

The best way to visit Telica Volcano is to begin your journey at the town of San Jacinto. From there, you can easily walk to the trailhead of the volcano. You can also book a tour operator for a day or night hike to catch the sunrise/sunset. They will take you right to the foot of the crater!
