The greatest expression of 19th-century romanticism

The Pena Palace is a castle located on the top of a hill, north of Sintra. It is one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. Construction started in the Middle Ages and was completed in 1854. It was King Ferdinand II’s dream to build a monument of this magnitude.

How to get there:

From Lisbon you can take a train to the town of Sintra. There, you can catch a bus to get up the hill to Pena palace.
