Known as "Rock of the Topsail"

The most spectacular view of Rio de Janeiro

Pedra da Gàvea is an impressive mountain composed of granite and gneiss with an elevation of 844 metres. The hike to the summit offers some thrilling adventures and breathtaking views. From the trailhead, you hike through dense tropical forest for about 2 hours and then, there are various rock scrambles and obstacles like chain ladders and vine walks for about 1 hour before reaching the summit. Climbing Pedra da Gávea is only for experienced hikers. There are passages that require technical climbing knowledge and skills. We recommend hiring a professionnel guide for the hike. No fees or permits are required for the hike.
