China's Iconic Cliff-Carved Wonder

The Leshan Giant Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a colossal stone sculpture located in Sichuan, China. Carved out of a cliff face overlooking the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu, and Qingyi rivers, this awe-inspiring 233-foot-tall statue of Maitreya Buddha is a marvel of ancient craftsmanship. Its construction began in the 8th century and took over 90 years to complete.
