High plateau landscapes

A wild and remote park

The protected area of Lauca is a 1,379 km2 National Park of altiplano, mountains and enormous volcanoes situated in the Andean range. One of the main attractions of the park is the small lacustrine area formed by Chungará and Cotacotani lakes, which lies at the foothills of the Payachata volcanic group. Lauca National Park also features archaeological sites, lava fields and volcanic calderas

The use of traveling is to regulate imagination with reality, and instead of thinking of how things may be, see them as they are. – Samuel johnson

Located in the Andes mountains in the far north of Chile

How to get there:

You can easily reach Lauca National Park but you have to get to closest town named Arica first. You can get there by plane from Santiago with LanChile or Sky Airlines which offers daily flights. You can also share a taxi ride or a collectivo. Once you are in Arica, you can rent a car at the airport and drive yourself, book a tour from one to three days through one of the travel agencies or hire a taxi.
