The oldest proclaimed nature reserve in Africa

Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park is a game reserve located in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is one of the oldest game reserves in Africa and is well known for its conservation efforts in saving the white rhinoceros from extinction. The park is named after the two rivers that flow through it, the Hluhluwe River and the Imfolozi River. The park covers an area of 96,000 hectares and is home to the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo), as well as many other species of animals and birds. It also has a diverse range of vegetation, including savanna, thornveld, and riverine forests. Visitors to the park can enjoy a range of activities, including game drives, guided walks, and bird watching. The park also has several accommodation options, including campsites, chalets, and lodges. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park is a popular destination for tourists who want to experience the natural beauty and wildlife of South Africa. How to get there:

Africa. The easiest way to get there is by flying into King Shaka International Airport, which is located near Durban, and then renting a car or taking a shuttle to the park.

Alternatively, you can take a bus or hire a private transfer from Durban or Johannesburg to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. There are several tour operators that offer guided tours to the park, which include transportation and accommodation.

It’s important to note that the roads leading to the park can be quite bumpy and uneven, so it’s recommended to use a high-clearance vehicle, particularly if you plan on self-driving within the park.
