Laguna de Apoyo is an endorheic lake that occupies the caldera of an extinct volcano, and offers some of the best panoramic views in the country. The water is naturally heated, clear and full of igneous minerals. This makes it one of the most unique swimming experiences and best diving sites in the entire world.
Laguna de Apoyo is approximately a 20 minute drive from both Masaya and Granada, and about an hour drive from the airport in Managua. You can get to the laguna via public bus or a regular backpacker bus that leaves from Hostel Oasis and Bearded Monkey in Granada.
