The Red Island

Madagascar is an island country in the eastern region of Africa, located in the Indian Ocean. There is evidence of human settlement in Madagascar that dates back at least 10,000 years, and the most prominent cultural group that resides here today is the Merina people. The wildlife in Madagascar is utterly abundant, with some of the highest numbers of chameleons and lemurs calling this large island home.

Population: 26.97 million
Capital: Antananarivo
Currency: Malagasy Ariary
Official Languages: Malagasy
Different ways to move around: Roadways that are both paved and unpaved and railroad systems make up the majority of transportation services in Madagascar. Getting around on a boat is not totally uncommon, either.

Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
