The rich ecosystem of Penas Biancas Natural Reserve is well known for its dramatic clouded forests, waterfalls and wildlife, including the famous puma. The reserve includes one of the highest mountains of the country, The Peñas Blancas Massif which is 1,745 meters above sea level, can be accessed by numerous hiking trails. You can also visit one of the many local farmers that produce coffee and cacao, among other products.
The Peñas Blancas Natural Reserve can be reached by bus from the Guanuca Terminal, which takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. The can also contact a tour operator for transport and accomodaiton.
