A deep gorge that has been incised by a mountain stream

A spectacular natural landmark

The Partnach Gorge is a natural wonder located in the Bavarian Alps of Germany, near the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is a narrow gorge that was formed over thousands of years by the Partnach River cutting through the limestone rock. The gorge is approximately 700 meters long and up to 80 meters deep, with towering cliffs on either side. The Partnach Gorge is a popular tourist destination, with a trail running through it that allows visitors to walk along the river and experience the dramatic scenery up close. The trail is well-maintained, with wooden walkways and bridges that cross over the river in places. The gorge can be visited year-round, although it is particularly stunning in the winter when the frozen waterfalls and ice formations create a magical atmosphere. Visitors to the Partnach Gorge should be prepared for some steep and narrow sections of the trail, as well as some wet and slippery areas. It is also important to wear sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.
