Scenic escape from the bustling city

Must-see for nature lovers

The Düden Waterfalls, also known as Düden Şelalesi in Turkish, are a series of beautiful waterfalls located in the Antalya province of Turkey. The waterfalls are one of the major natural attractions in the region and are visited by many tourists. There are two main sections of the Düden Waterfalls: the Upper Düden Waterfall (Yukarı Düden Şelalesi) and the Lower Düden Waterfall (Aşağı Düden Şelalesi). The Upper Düden Waterfall is located about 10 kilometers northeast of the city center of Antalya. It is formed by the Düden River, which emerges from the Taurus Mountains and cascades down from a height of approximately 20 meters into a large pool below. The surrounding area is lush with vegetation, creating a picturesque and tranquil atmosphere.

The Lower Düden Waterfall, on the other hand, is situated right by the Mediterranean Sea, near the Lara Beach area, around 8 kilometers northeast of Antalya's city center. The Düden River flows through a rocky cliff and plunges into the sea, creating a dramatic spectacle. This waterfall is particularly unique because it directly meets the sea, offering stunning views and photo opportunities.

How to get there:

By Public Transportation: Antalya has a well-developed public transportation system. From the city center, you can take a bus (known as “dolmuş” in Turkish) or a tram to reach the waterfalls. Look for buses heading towards Lara or Kundu, as these routes will take you in the direction of the waterfalls. You can ask the driver or locals for assistance to ensure you get off at the right stop.

By Taxi or Car Rental: Taxis are widely available in Antalya, and you can easily hire one to take you to the Düden Waterfalls. Taxis provide a convenient and direct option, but it can be more expensive compared to public transportation. If you prefer to drive yourself, you can rent a car from Antalya city center or the airport and follow the signs towards Lara or Kundu, which will lead you to the waterfalls.
