The iconic Alegría Lagoon is situated inside the crater of the active Tecapa Volcano. The emerald tone of the lagoon is due to the sulfur produced by the volcanic activity that surrounds it. You can walk around the lagoon on a pleasant loop trail that offers some scenic views of its surroundings. The entrance fee to the lagoon is $0.25 USD per person.
