One of the most memorable archaeological sites in Turkey

Renowned for its natural beauty.

Kaunos is an ancient archaeological site located in modern-day Turkey. It is situated on the Dalyan River, near the town of Dalyan in the Muğla Province. Kaunos was an important city in the region during the ancient Greek and Roman periods. Visitors to Kaunos can explore the ruins of the ancient city, take a boat trip along the Dalyan River, and visit the İztuzu Beach. The site is accessible from Dalyan town, where you can find accommodations, restaurants, and other amenities for tourists.

The city's most notable structures include the acropolis, theater, agora (marketplace), and Roman baths. However, the most iconic feature of Kaunos is its rock-cut tombs, known as the Lycian tombs. These tombs, carved into the cliffs above the city, are an impressive sight and offer insights into the funerary practices of the time.
