The dramatic island of Ometepe is situated in Lake Nicaragua. It features some of the best attractions in the country, and is best known for its two volcanoes, Concepcion and Maderas volcanoes. Ometepe has some scenic highlights that include the natural springs of La Ojo de Agua, the San Ramon waterfalls, Kayaking in the Istian River, volcano climbing, incredible wildlife such like monkeys and caiman, and much more. It is definitely worth a visit!
To reach Ometepe Island, you have to take the ferry from San Jorge. The best way to visit Ometepe Island is to rent a push-bike ($5 a day), motorcycle or a scooter ($15-$20 USD per day) for the duration of your stay.
