A protected area on the Garden Route

Tsitsikamma National Park is a protected area located on the Garden Route in the Western Cape of South Africa. The park encompasses a coastal strip of indigenous forest, fynbos, and rocky coastline along the Indian Ocean. The park is known for its scenic beauty and diverse plant and animal life. It offers a range of activities, including hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and bungee jumping from the world's highest commercial bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge. The park also features the famous Otter Trail, a 42-kilometer hike along the coastline that takes five days to complete. Other popular hiking trails include the Dolphin Trail and the Tsitsikamma Trail. Visitors can also explore the park's many waterfalls, including the popular Storms River Mouth, which features a suspension bridge over the mouth of the river. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including baboons, vervet monkeys, bushbuck, and dassies (rock hyrax). Visitors can also spot whales and dolphins from the park's many lookout points.

How to get there:

By bus: You can take a bus from Cape Town or Port Elizabeth to the nearby towns of Storms River or Plettenberg Bay, and then take a taxi or shuttle to the park. Companies such as Intercape and Greyhound offer bus services to these areas.

By tour: There are many tour operators that offer guided tours to Tsitsikamma National Park from various cities in South Africa. This can be a convenient option if you don’t want to worry about transportation and logistics.

By car: If you’re traveling from Cape Town or Port Elizabeth, you can rent a car and drive to the park. From Cape Town, take the N2 highway east towards Port Elizabeth. From Port Elizabeth, take the N2 highway west towards Cape Town. The park is located between the towns of Storms River and Nature’s Valley.
