Breathtaking view of glowing magma

Known as “The Mouth of Hell”

Masaya is an active volcano situated in Masaya Volcano National Park. The volcanoes have erupted several times throughout history, which has had a dramatic impact on the surroundings. You can book a tour operator to visit the summit of the volcano and take you directly to the crater by bus. At night, you can admire the glowing magma from the crater. You can visit the viewpoint for no more than 20 minutes, due to the risk of any explosions or volcanic gases. If you want to visit the crater on your own, there is a $4 entry fee to the national park, and it is 5 km walk along the road to the crater. There are also a few walking trails in the park which offers great views of Mombacho and Momotombo volcanoes and over Laguna de Masaya.
