Glendalough Lake Walk is a scenic hiking trail in Glendalough, a glacial valley located in County Wicklow, Ireland. The trail is about 9 kilometers long and takes about 2.5 hours to complete. The trail starts from the Glendalough Visitor Centre and follows a path along the shores of the Upper Lake. From there, it crosses the Glendasan River and winds its way through dense forest and open moorland, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The trail then continues around the Lower Lake and passes by the ruins of the Monastic City, which was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century. Along the way, hikers can see the remains of a round tower, several churches, and a cathedral. The Glendalough Lake Walk is a moderate hike that is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. It is a 2.8-mile loop trail that generally takes an average of 1 h 17 min to accomplish. It is well-signposted and well-maintained, with several rest stops along the way. Hikers should wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water and snacks.

Glendalough Lake Walk is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park, about an hour’s drive south of Dublin, Ireland.

Here are some ways to get to Glendalough Lake Walk: By Car: You can drive to Glendalough Lake Walk by taking the N11 south from Dublin, then turning onto the R755 towards Glendalough. Follow the signs to Glendalough Visitor Centre, where you can park your car and begin your walk. By Bus: You can take a bus from Dublin to Glendalough. Bus Eireann and St. Kevin’s Bus Service both offer services to Glendalough. Check their schedules for timings.

Once you arrive at Glendalough Visitor Centre, you can start the Lake Walk from there. The walk is a loop that takes about 1.5-2 hours to complete, and it takes you around the beautiful Upper Lake and Lower Lake of Glendalough.
