The second largest city in Morocco

UNESCO World Heritage site

The old town is where you'll find the city's most famous attractions, including the Medina of Fez, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Medina is home to thousands of narrow, winding streets lined with ancient buildings, souks (markets), and mosques. One of the most notable landmarks in the Medina is the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, which was founded in the 9th century and is considered to be one of the oldest continuously operating universities in the world. Fez is also known for its incredible artisanal crafts, particularly its textiles, ceramics, and leather goods. Visitors can explore the souks and workshops to see artisans at work and purchase authentic handmade goods to bring home. You should visit the big tannery called Tannery Chouara at the end of the medina, its super impressive and its free to go.
