Connemara National Park is a beautiful and scenic national park located on the west coast of Ireland in County Galway. Established in 1980, the park covers approximately 2,957 hectares of diverse landscapes, including mountains, bogs, heaths, grasslands, and woodlands. It is a part of the larger Connemara region, renowned for its rugged beauty and wilderness. Diamond Hill is one of the most popular trails in the park. The well-marked loop trail takes you to the summit of Diamond Hill (442 meters), providing panoramic views of Connemara's landscape and coastline.
Aside from Diamond Hill, the park features several other hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels, catering to different fitness levels and interests. Picnic Areas: There are designated picnic areas within the park where visitors can relax and enjoy their own packed meals amidst the stunning natural scenery.
The main entrance to Connemara National Park is located approximately 4 km from the village of Letterfrack, County Galway. Letterfrack is about a 1.5-hour drive from Galway City, and there are regular bus services connecting Galway to Letterfrack and Clifden (another town near the park). If you’re traveling by car, the park is accessible via the N59 road.
