The fairytale castle of King Ludwig II

Disney Castle's inspiration

Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace located in Bavaria, Germany. It was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a personal retreat and as an homage to the composer Richard Wagner. Construction of the castle began in 1869 and was not completed until 1892, six years after the king's death. The castle's architecture and interior design were inspired by Wagner's operas, particularly his Tristan and Isolde and Lohengrin, as well as by medieval European castle architecture. Neuschwanstein Castle is situated on a hill above the village of Hohenschwangau, near the town of Füssen, and it offers stunning views of the surrounding Bavarian Alps. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany, attracting more than 1.3 million visitors per year. It's important to note that Neuschwanstein Castle is a very popular tourist attraction, and it can get crowded, especially during peak season. It's recommended to book your tickets in advance to avoid long queues.
